Women’s tennis team defeated by Shenandoah, 6-3

The Olivet College women's tennis team was defeated by Shenandoah (Va.) University, 6-3, this afternoon in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Comets earned their three team points via two wins in doubles play and one win in singles play. In doubles, the No. 1 duo of Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) and Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) won an 8-3 pro-set, while the No. 2 duo of Celeste Gruber (South Haven) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) picked-up an 8-1 pro-set victory. Mummaw posted a win at the No. 1 singles flight. Since the outcome had been decided when her match started, she had to play only a pro-set and won that 9-8 with a 7-5 score in the tiebreaker.

Olivet returns to the court tomorrow when it plays Ohio Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.
