Women’s tennis team defeats Eastern Nazarene, 7-2
The Olivet College women’s tennis team concluded its spring break trip with a 7-2 win against Eastern Nazarene (Mass.) College today in Hilton Head, S.C. The win snapped the Comets’ five-match losing streak.

Olivet swept the three doubles flights and won 4-of-6 singles flights. In doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) and Abbie Utberg (Commerce Twp./Walled Lake Central) picked-up an 8-3 pro-set victory, while the No. 2 duo of Celeste Gruber (South Haven) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) posted an 8-5 win. The No. 3 doubles team of Mindy Timm (Three Rivers) and Kristen Wolfolk (Lansing/Haslett) earned a forfeit win, as ENC only had five players.
Mummaw won by identical 6-1 scores to gain the win at the No. 1 singles flight. Utberg recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win in No. 2 singles. At the No. 3 singles flight, Gruber lost only one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Freshman Ashley Draheim (Swartz Creek) received the forfeit win at No. 6 singles.
The Comets will return to Michigan and be idle until Monday, March 24, when they travel to play Calvin College at 3 p.m.
