Women's tennis team beats Trine, 8-1
The Olivet College women’s tennis team swept the six singles matches and won 2-of-3 doubles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Trine University today in Angola, Indiana.
The Olivet College women's tennis team swept the six singles matches and won 2-of-3 doubles matches en route to an 8-1 win over Trine University today in Angola, Indiana.
Winning in singles play were senior Jaclyn Mummaw (Buchanan) at No. 1, freshman Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) at No. 2, junior Celeste Gruber (South Haven) at No. 3, freshman Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) at No. 4, sophomore Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) at No. 5 and freshman Paige Sedgewick (Lennon/Powers Catholic) at No. 6. In doubles, the No. 2 duo of Gruber and Singer posted an easy 8-0 victory, while the No. 3 duo of Sedgewick and Scudder won, 8-4.
The Comets will take next week off for spring semester exams. They are back in action in one week, April 25, when they host Hope College at the MSU Tennis Facility in East Lansing at 1 p.m.
