LaValley earns second-team All-MIAA honors
Olivet College freshman Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) has been named to the 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team in women’s tennis.
Olivet College freshman Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) has been named to the 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) second-team in women's tennis.
This season, LaValley posted an 11-6 record, including a 3-5 MIAA record, for the Comets at the No. 1 singles flight. In the No. 1 doubles flight, she and sophomore Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) compiled an 8-7 record, including a 2-5 record against MIAA opponents.
At the 2010 MIAA Championships April 30-May 1 at Hope College, LaValley had a 2-1 record in singles. Her straight set win helped Olivet beat Adrian College, 5-4. LaValley was also 2-1 in doubles play.
LaValley and the Comets finished the 2010 season with a 9-8 overall record. The 9-8 record marks Olivet's first winning season in school history.
