The Comets breezed through the doubles flights. The No. 1 duo of Celeste Gruber (South Haven) and Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) won 8-1, while the Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) recorded an 8-3 win. The No. 3 duo of Paige Sedgewick (Lennon/Powers Catholic) and Kelly Stephens (Troy/Troy Athens) won be default.
In singles play, Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) lost only one game to win 6-0, 6-1, at the No.1 flight. Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) posted a 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Gruber won 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 3 flight. Singer and Sedgewick coasted to 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 4 and 5 flight, respectively. Baker won by default at the No. 6 flight.
Olivet will take next week off for spring semester exams and return to the courts in one week at Hope College at 1 p.m.
