The Olivet College women’s tennis team blanked Judson (Ill.) University, 9-0, in a non-conference match today at the South Shore Racquet Club in St. Joseph.

The Comets swept the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) and Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) posted an 8-5 win. At No. 2, Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and Celeste Gruber (South Haven) did not lose any games, winning 8-0. At No. 3, Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) and Kelly Stephens (Troy/Troy Athens) recorded an 8-1 victory.
Olivet rolled through the singles matches, losing only 12 total games. LaValley and Gruber won identical 6-1, 6-0 matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, respectively. Singer won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Baker earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4. Scudder won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5. Paige Sedgewick (Lennon/Powers Catholic) was perfect, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Comets will travel to play Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College Tuesday at the Craft Tennis Complex in Adrian. First serve is 4 p.m.
