Women’s tennis team wins first MIAA match of season, defeating Alma, 6-3
The Olivet College women’s tennis team won its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association match of the season today, defeating Alma College, 6-3, on a blustery afternoon in Alma.

The Comets on 2-of-3 doubles flights. Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) and Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) won at No. 1, and Celeste Gruber (South Haven) and Kelsey Singer (Brooklyn/Columbia Central) won at No. 2.
Those four players also won their singles matches. LaValley cruised to a straight set win at No. 1. The other three won in three sets – Guerra at No. 2, Gruber at No. 3 and Singer at No. 4.
The Comets will play a non-conference match tomorrow against Judson (Ill.) University. The match is being played at the South Shore Racquet Club in St. Joseph, and it will start at noon.
