Women’s tennis team blanks Muskingum, 9-0
The Olivet College women’s tennis team lost only seven games en route to a 9-0 win against Muskingum (Ohio) University today at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Olivet College women's tennis team lost only seven games en route to a 9-0 win against Muskingum (Ohio) University today at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
Freshman Caitlin LaValley (Battle Creek/Pennfield) and sophomore Giana Guerra (Lansing/Waverly) did not lose any games, winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Senior Celeste Gruber (South Haven), sophomore Kelsey Singer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and sophomore Jenna Baker (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) all won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, 4 and 6 singles, respectively. Junior Leanne Scudder (St. Joseph/Lakeshore) picked-up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
Each of the three doubles' flights won 8-1. Guerra and LaValley played at No. 1, Gruber and Singer played at No. 2 and sophomore Paige Sedgewick (Lennon/Powers Catholic) and freshman Kelly Stephens (Troy/Troy Athens) played at No. 3.
The Comets continue play in Hilton Head tomorrow at 8 a.m. against Heidelberg (Ohio) University.
