Women’s tennis team blanks Concordia, 9-0
The Olivet College women’s tennis team blanked Concordia University, 9-0, today at the Chippewa Tennis Club in Ypsilanti.
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Olivet College women's tennis team blanked Concordia University, 9-0, today at the Chippewa Tennis Club in Ypsilanti.
The Comets lost only nine total games in sweeping the three doubles flights. The No. duo of sophomore Maddy Drikakis and freshman Rachael Hager won 8-3. The No. 2 duo of sophomores Haley Powers and BreAnne Rudlaff coasted to an 8-2 victory. The No. 3 duo of senior Lucy McNally and junior Isabel Snyder claimed an 8-4 victory.
Similar success was seen in the singles flights, as Olivet lost 24 total games. Drikakis won 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 1 position. Hager cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2. At No. 3, Powers needed a set tiebreaker to win her first set, 7-6, before winning the match with a 6-3 second-set win. Rudlaff lost only one game en route to an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. McNally had a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Freshman Rae Claramunt earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Olivet will wrap-up its fall schedule next Thursday, Oct. 1, with a 4 p.m. match at Spring Arbor University.
