Girard’s heroics help Olivet come-from-behind to beat Franklin, 4-3

OLIVET, Mich. – Freshman Amelia Girard was the last player on the court, and she won an epic three-set match to help The University of Olivet women's tennis team rally to beat Franklin (Ind.) College, 4-3, at the Tom Kolassa Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Franklin led 1-0 after winning each of the three doubles flights. Olivet evened the score with a win at No. 4 singles. The Grizzlies earned the win at No. 6 singles before the Comets won the next two singles flights (No. 5 and 3) to take their first lead in the match. Franklin posted a win at No. 1 singles to level the team score at 3-3.
- The outcome of the match came down to No. 2 singles between Olivet freshman Amelia Girard and Franklin senior Sydney Carson. Carson won the first set 6-4 before Girard won the second set 6-2. In the match tiebreaker, the score was tied at 3-3 and then Girard reeled off the final seven points for a 10-3 win.

- Girard earned the win at No. 2 singles.
- Senior Leah Hopkins posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
- Sophomore Kayden Alli cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
- Sophomore Madison Golden won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
