Caldwell and Nicklaw earn All-MIAA Track and Field honors
Olivet College junior Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) and sophomore Heather Nicklaw (Springport) have been named to the 2010 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Track and Field team.
Caldwell was an at-large selection after finishing second in the 400-meter dash at the 2010 MIAA Field Day. In the race, she broke her own school record with a time of 58.44 seconds. She also finished in fourth-place in the 200-meter dash, stopping the clock in 27.03 seconds. As the conference champion in the high jump, Nicklaw was an automatic selection. She and two other athletes cleared the bar at 5'3.75"; however, Nicklaw was declared the champion after needing only two attempts to clear it, and the other two needed all three attempts.
Caldwell is the first student-athlete in school history to be a two-time All-MIAA selection in track and field, as she also earned All-MIAA honors in 2009. Nicklaw is the first female student-athlete in school history to win an event at the MIAA Field Day.
Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Karen Lutzke, the Olivet women's track and field team finished in sixth place at the 2010 MIAA Field Day.
