Women's track and field team breaks three school records
The women’s track and field team broke three school records today at the All-American Meet, hosted by Adrian College.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College women's track and field team broke three school records today at the All-American Meet, hosted by Adrian College.
The 4x100 relay team of Becca Gaarde (Parma/Western), Chelsea Guzikowski (Reed City), Cassandra Ciaravino (Lapeer/East) and Liz Stewart (Vermontville/Maple Valley) finished in third-place and broke the school record with a time of 51.50 seconds. The 4x400 relay quartet of Stewart, Jenna Mayle (Ionia), Guzikowski and junior Sarah Caldwell (Bronson) also set a new school record (4:18.11).
Ciaravino and Gaarde placed fourth and fifth, respectively in the 100 meter hurdles with times of 17.16 and 17.29 seconds. Gaarde was sixth in the 200 dash (:27.26) and Ciaravino was just behind her in ninth (:27.60). Caldwell broke the school record and finished in fifth-place in the 800 run with a time of 2:24.25.
In the field events, Heather Nicklaw (Springport) was fourth in the high jump with a 1.52 meter clearance. Ciaravino placed fourth in the long jump at 4.86 meters. Sara Wegener (Lansing/Lansing Catholic) finished in sixth-place in the shot put (10.88 meters) and eighth in the discus (32.70 meters).
Olivet will go back to Adrian next Saturday for the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree. Action will get started at 10 a.m.
