Track and field teams place sixth at Dick Small Invitational
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of their schedules by placing sixth at the 21st Annual Dick Small Invitational, hosted by Defiance College at the Justin F. Coressel Stadium in Defiance, Ohio.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's and women's track & field teams opened the outdoor portion of their schedules by placing sixth at the 21st Annual Dick Small Invitational, hosted by Defiance College at the Justin F. Coressel Stadium in Defiance, Ohio.
WOMEN'S TEAM
- Junior Allyson Schultz had the Comets' best finish in a race with more than 10 runners, placing third in the 5,000-meter run (19:18.13). Senior Danielle Marsh scored eighth-place points in the 5K (20:41.13).
- Freshman Kimberly Barber was fifth in the 100-meter (:13.27) and 200-meter (:27.08) dashes. With a third-place finish in the triple jump, she broke the school record at 10.01m. Barber was also fourth in the long jump (4.75m).
- Freshman Brianna Wiles finished in eighth-place in the 400-meter dash (1:05.71).
- Sophomore Isabelle Leon was the eighth runner to cross the finish line in the 1,500-meter run (5:18.16).
- Sophomore Abigail Gaines and freshman Jessica Taylor were the only two runners in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Gaines clocked-in at 14:06.51, followed by Taylor in 14:21.93.
- The 4x800-meter relay finished third in 11:13.12.
- Senior Danielle Hoffman cleared the pole vault bar at 2.67 meters to place third.
MEN'S TEAM
- Sophomore Bruce Baker won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:58.36. Freshman Mark Smith was right behind him in second-place at 10:16.92.
- Junior Blake Wilson placed third in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.10) and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:00.97).
- Freshmen Patrick Donovan and Brad Thomas scored fifth- (17:03.06) and seventh-place (17:19.49) points, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run.
- The 4x100-meter relay finished second (:57.19) and the 4x800-meter relay was fifth (9:07.26).
- Senior Travon Tatum placed third in the long jump (5.94m).
- Freshman Nicholas Yeck finished third in the triple jump (11.06m) and sixth in the long jump (5.63m).
The Comets return to action next Saturday, April 2, at Alma College for the Charles Gray Invitational. Field events start at 10 a.m., followed by running events at 11:30 a.m.
