Indoor track & field teams compete at Defiance Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Olivet College men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed today at the Defiance (Ohio) College Invitational. The Comets broke two more school records.

  • Junior Noah Bailey took first-place in the triple jump with a leap of 46 feet, 2-1/2 inches.
  • Sophomore Jacob Smith achieved a school-record mark of 51 feet, 3 inches in the shot put. The performance placed him second of 32 throwers in the event.
  • The distance medley relay team of Kyle Markley, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Bell and Jaden Costa finished first with a time of 11:44.32.
  • Markley placed fourth in the mile run (4:50.47).

  • Kaliniak's winning pole vault mark currently ranks No. 1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
  • Smith's performance in the shot put is No. 1 in the MIAA and 18th on the NCAA DIII Indoor Performance list.

  • Olivet travels to Hillsdale for the Hillsdale College Wide Track Classic next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1-2.
