HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Olivet College senior Gabby Jolliff has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
At the Central Michigan University Jack Skoog Open, Jolliff achieved a personal best indoor mark with a 10 foot and 6 inches clearance in the pole vault. The performance helped her place second in the event. Jolliff began the day by clearing the bar on her first attempt at the first two heights (9 feet, 6-1/4 inches and 10 feet). She got over the bar on her third and final attempt at 10 feet, 6 inches, which ranks first among 12 MIAA pole vaulters this winter.
"Over the past year, we have seen tremendous growth with Gabby in the pole vault," said Olivet head track and field coach Karen Lutzke. "She has been putting in the work and we are excited to see what additional barriers she can break this season."
Jolliff and the Comets return to action Saturday at the Wittenberg (Ohio) University Steemer Showcase. Field events start at 11 a.m., followed by running events at 12 p.m.
