UOlivet’s Baynes places 10th in heptathlon at MIAA Combined Events
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Olivet junior Ellie Baynes placed 10th in the heptathlon at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Combined Events, hosted by Hope College.
The heptathlon is a two-day event, with four events on the first day and three events on the second day. The first day took place yesterday, and the event concluded this afternoon. Points are awarded based on your performance in each event, with the winner being declared by total points accumulated over the seven events.
Baynes totaled 2,938 points over the two days.
- 100-meter hurdles – 19.01 (PR) – 389 points
- High jump – 1.34m – 449 points
- Shot put – 8.90m (PR) – 458 points
- 200m dash – 28.90 – 562 points
- Long jump – 4.30m – 379 points
- Javelin – 27.25m – 425 points
- 800-meter run – 3:10.28 – 276 points
Freshman Peyton Tennant competed in the heptathlon but did not score points in two of the events. She placed second in two of the events – shot put and javelin.

- High jump – 1.43m – 544 points
- Shot put – 10.76m – 579 points
- 200m dash – 31.04 – 412 points
- Long jump – 4.22m – 359 points
- Javelin – 27.45m – 428 points
- 800-meter run – DNS – 0 points
Baynes competed in the heptathlon for a second straight year. This year's point total was 354 points more than last year.
The Comets are back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up.
