Volleyball team loses twice at Tri-State (Ind.) Triangular
The Olivet College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Tri-State (Ind.) University Triangular tonight at Hershey Hall in Angola. The Comets fell to the host Thunder 30-22, 30-16, 26-30, 30-25, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match. Olivet also fell to Huntington (Ind.) University 30-16, 30-26, 30-28.

Against Tri-State, freshman Emily McClure (Athens) led the Comet front row attack with 11 kills. Sophomore Kim Travis (Shepherd) also posted double digits in kills with 10. Junior Jessica Petkus (Milford) posted a double double with 34 set assists and 20 digs. Sophomore Courtney Lewis (Battle Creek/St. Philip) posted a team-high 26 digs, followed by senior Julia Longman (Climax/Climax-Scotts) with 21.
Against Huntington, sophomores Joli Schlabach (Colon) and Mackenzie Heator (Union City) paced Olivet with 10 and nine kills, respectively. Travis recorded seven kills. Petkus dished out 27 assists, while Lewis led the defense with 12 digs.
The Comets return to the court tomorrow when they travel to play Hope College at 6:30 p.m.
