Volleyball team falls in three games to Calvin
The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College in three games tonight at the Upton Center in Olivet.
The Olivet College volleyball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College in three games tonight at the Upton Center in Olivet. The Knights led the first game from start to finish, winning it 30-20. Olivet had the lead for most of the second game until Calvin pulled away in the late stages for a come-from-behind 32-30 win. The Knights won the third game, 30-18.
Freshman Ellen Schulz (Freeland) topped the Olivet (2-12, 1-4 MIAA) front row with 13 kills and a .175 hitting percentage. Co-captains Mackenzie Heator (Union City) and Jennie Malm (Bridgman) recorded eight and six kills, respectively. Freshman Jenessa Hicks (Union City) had 28 set assists. Junior Lindsey Tarrant (Metamore/Oxford) finished with a team-high 15 digs, followed by Hicks with 13 and junior Courtney Lewis (Battle Creek/St. Philip) with 12.
The Comets will play their next three matches on the road, beginning tomorrow with a 3 p.m. match at Hope College. Next Tuesday, Sept. 25, they will travel to play Tri-State (Ind.) University at 7 p.m., and on Thursday, Sept. 27, they will play at Rochester College at 7 p.m.
