Volleyball team defeats Taylor Fort Wayne in four sets
The Olivet College volleyball team defeated non-conference foe Taylor University Fort Wayne (Ind.) in four sets (25-13, 25-27, 25-19, 25-16) tonight at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet.

The Comets never trailed in the opening set, winning by a 25-13. In the second set, the Lady Falcons jumped out to five-point lead at 5-0 and 10-5. Olivet came back to tie the set at 20-20. Following a 25-25 tie, Taylor scored two straight points to win the set, 27-25.
The third set was back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than two points through the first 10 serve rotations. With the score tied at 16-16, a service ace by sophomore Ellen Schulz (Freeland) put the Comets up 17-16 and they were did not relinquish the lead for rest of the set, winning it 25-19. In the fourth set, Olivet built a 10-point lead, 21-11 and went on to win the set 25-16.
Senior middle hitter Mackenzie Heator (Union City) posted a team-high 12 kills. Schulz also reached double digits with 10 kills. Sophomore Jenessa Hicks (Union City) tallied 32 set assists. Defensively, freshman Mallory Schug (Climax/Galesburg Augusta) and senior Lindsay Tarrant (Metamora/Oxford) had 19 and 16 digs, respectively.
The Comets resume Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play tomorrow when they host Trine (Ind.) University at 7 p.m.
