OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College sophomore Kaitlyn Salhaney (Caledonia/East Kentwood) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Specialty Player of the Week for volleyball.
Salhaney bounced back from an illness early in the week to post 40 digs in two matches, averaging 5.71 digs per set played. She had 14 digs in a loss at Adrian College Oct. 7, and followed that performance with a career-best, single-match high 26 digs in a four-set win over Albion College Oct. 8.
"Kaitlyn has been a consistent leader for the Comets this season," said Head Coach Lynnette Moster. "Her increased serve receive average combined with her increased number of digs is hard to go unnoticed. We are proud of Kaitlyn's improvements and look forward to seeing her continue to improve this season."
Olivet will next be in action Wednesday night at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. First serve at the Angela Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
