Volleyball team recognized with AVCA Team Academic award
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the Olivet College volleyball team is one of 622 teams to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 season.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the Olivet College volleyball team is one of 622 teams to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 season.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.
Under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Megan Merchant, the Comets had a 3.456 cumulative GPA.
Olivet opens the 2013 season Friday and Saturday, Aug. 30-31, at the Elmhurst (Ill.) College Bluejay Classic. The first match of the season is against Illinois Wesleyan University at 3 p.m. EST.
