Women’s volleyball team falls to Oberlin in three sets
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women’s volleyball team was defeated by Oberlin (Ohio) College in the opening match of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA)-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Challenge tonight at the Cutler Event Center. The Yeowomen won in straight sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's volleyball team was defeated by Oberlin (Ohio) College in the opening match of the 2022 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA)-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Challenge tonight at the Cutler Event Center. The Yeowomen won in straight sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-15.

- The first set saw Oberlin put the first three points on the scoreboard. Olivet closed the gap to two points before the Yeowomen went on a 5-0 run to go up 9-2. Oberlin did not give up the lead for the rest of the set.
- The Yeowomen built a four-point advantage, 6-2, early in the second set. The Comets fought back and trimmed their deficit in half on four occasions. After the last time at 10-8, Oberlin used a 5-0 spurt to go up 15-8. Two Olivet kills made the score 15-10. The Yeowomen extended their lead to 10 points, 22-12. The Comets came back one more time to make the difference six points, 22-16. Oberlin scored three of the final four points to win the set 25-17.
- The only time the Yeowomen trailed in the third set was 1-0. Oberlin's largest lead in the set was 11 points at 23-12.
- Olivet finished the match with 21 kills.
- Sophomore Alia Riehl recorded a team-leading six kills.
- Junior Morgan Dillon tallied five kills.
- Senior Kennedy Blackburn dished out 17 sets.
- Senior Jill Arends collected a team-best nine digs.
- Andrea Jones led Oberlin with nine kills and 12 digs.
- Lauren Sands was next with eight kills.
- Lucy Myers and Taylor Gwynee split time at setting, registering 17 and 11 assists, respectively.
- The MIAA-NCAC Challenge continues tomorrow, with four matches at the Cutler Event Center. Oberlin plays Kalamazoo College in the first match at 10 a.m., followed Oberlin versus Alma College, Alma versus Kenyon (Ohio) College and Kenyon versus Olivet.
