Nunez named MIAA Volleyball Player of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- Senior Abi Nunez from The University of Olivet has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for women's volleyball.
Nunez led the Comets to a 3-1 record at the Great Lakes Cross Over Tournament, held at the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, Ohio. For the four matches, she recorded 61 kills (4.07 per set), .252 attack percentage and 54 digs (3.60 per set).
In a five-set win over Waynesburg (Pa.) University, Nunez had 17 kills and 21 digs. She followed that with 13 kills and nine digs in a three-set loss to Anderson (Ind.) University. Nunez tallied 15 kills and eight digs to go along with a .406 attack percentage in a sweep over Penn State University (Pa.) Altoona. Nunez ended the tournament with 16 kills and 16 digs in a four-set win over Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College.
Nunez and the Comets (3-1) are back in action tomorrow night when they Manchester (Ind.) University for their home-opener. The first serve from the Cutler Event Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
