CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The University of Olivet women's volleyball team won two matches in three sets at the Ohio Christian University Triangular today inside the Maxwell Center. The Comets defeated the host Trailblazers before beating Salem (W.Va.) University to push its win streak to seven. In addition, all seven wins have been sweeps for the longest such streak in school history.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Olivet defeated Ohio Christian 25-18, 25-20, 25-15
- Location: Maxwell Center; Circleville, Ohio
- Records: Olivet 11-4 overall, Ohio Christian 9-10 overall
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set was back-and-forth, as there were eight tied scores in the first 18 points scored. After a 9-9 deadlock, the Comets took advantage of three Ohio Christian errors to take a 12-9 lead. The Trailblazers closed the gap twice to a single point but was never able to even the score.
- Olivet led the second and third sets from start-to-finish.
FOR THE COMETS
- For the match, Olivet had 41 kills compared to 26 for Ohio Christian. The Comets also had a higher attack percentage at .207 to .044.
- Sophomore Julia Hall and senior Abi Nunez each recorded 11 kills.
- Senior Hayleah McFadden tallied eight kills.
- Senior Teagan Giannunzio dished out 34 set assists.
- Junior libero Jaydn Cary collected a match-high 17 digs, and Nunez was next with 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 4-4 tie in the first set, the Comets scored five straight points to go up 9-4. The Tigers responded with a 10-3 run to take a 14-12 lead. Olivet came back to regain a one-point lead twice. Following the second time at 20-19, Salem scored the next three points to go up 22-20. The Comets closed the set on a 5-0 run, with three kills and two Tiger attack errors, to win the set 25-22.
- Olivet raced out to an 8-2 lead in the second set and never trailed for the rest of the set.
- Salem opened the third set with a four-point cushion at 8-4. Down 11-7, the Comets reeled off a 5-0 run to take a 12-11 lead. The Tigers fought back to regain the lead three times. After the third time at 18-17, Olivet ended the set on an 8-1 spurt.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet had 42 kills to 23 for the Tigers.
- Nunez tallied a match-best 15 kills.
- McFadden had 10 kills and posted a .375 attack percentage.
- Giannunzio recorded a double-double with team-highs in assists (32) and digs (16).
- Cary and Nunez each tallied 12 digs.
- Hall registered three solo blocks.
