UOlivet swept by Manchester in three sets

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. – The University of Olivet women's volleyball team lost in straight sets (25-16, 26-24, 25-8) to Manchester (Ind.) University tonight at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Spartans took a 5-2 lead in the opening set. Olivet came back to even the score at 5-5 before Manchester went on a 13-2 run to take a commanding 18-7 lead. The Spartans went on to win the set by a 25-16 score.
- In the second set, the Comets scored the first three points, including back-to-back aces by junior Grace Grew. Olivet held the advantage until a 10-1 run for Spartans turned an 8-7 deficit into a 19-7 lead. The Comets battled all the way back to tie the score at 24-24. Manchester scored the last two points on a kill and Olivet attack error to win the set, 26-24.
- The Spartans started the third set by scoring the first two points. The Comets leveled the score at 2-2. Manchester scored the next two points and did not give up the lead for the rest of the set.
- For the match, the Spartans had 10 kills in each set for 30 total kills. Olivet had 19 kills over the three sets.
FOR THE COMETS
- Freshman Payton Smith shared match-high honors with eight kills.
- Senior Violet Porter was next with four kills.
- Grew and sophomore Jordyn Smith each recorded seven set assists.
- Senior Jaydn Cary tallied eight digs.

- The Comets are in Cleveland, Ohio, for two matches Saturday at Case Western Reserve University. The Comets play Heidelberg (Ohio) University at 1 p.m., followed by a match against University of Mount Union (Ohio).
