UOlivet swept at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Olivet women's volleyball team was swept in three sets by Calvin University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match tonight at Van Noord Arena.
THE BASICS
- Final Score: Calvin defeated Olivet 25-15, 25-9, 25-17
- Location: Van Noord Arena; Grand Rapids, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 8-17 overall, 3-4 MIAA; Calvin 22-3 overall, 6-1 MIAA
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Early in the opening set, the Comets kept the score close. Following a 4-4 tie, the Knights used an 8-1 run to take a 12-5 lead. Olivet could not recover from the deficit, as Calvin went on to win the set by a 25-15 score.
- The beginning of the second set was like the first. The Comets trailed 7-6 before the Knights ended the set on a 22-3 run to take the set 25-9.
- Olivet led by two points on a couple occasions in the beginning of the third set. After the second time at 6-4, Calvin strung together six consecutive points for a 10-6 lead. The Comets closed the gap to three points twice but never got any closer. The Knights won the set 25-xx to win the match three sets to none.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet finished the match with 24 kills.
- Freshman Payton Smith led the way with eight kills.
- Senior Morgan Good added six kills.
- Sophomore Jordyn Smith recorded 15 set assists.
- Senior Jaydn Cary and sophomore Ashlynn Giannunzio each tallied nine digs.
UP NEXT
- The Comets end the regular season part of their schedule on Saturday when they host Saint Mary's (Ind.) College. The first serve at the Cutler Event Center is at 4:30 p.m.
