Cross Country teams open MIAA season
The Olivet College men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule today at the first jamboree hosted by Adrian College.
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams opened their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule today at the first jamboree hosted by Adrian College.
The Olivet men finished in fifth-place (out of seven teams) with 151 points. Alma College was sixth with 153 and Adrian did not have enough runners to qualify for a team score. Tri-State (Ind.) University competed, but is not an official member of the MIAA until the 2004-05 season.
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore Jeremy Shephard (Kalamazoo/Mattawan High School), who covered the course in 27:58. He was followed by sophomore Andrew Lapham (South Lyon High School) in 28:14, junior Robert Dodson (Elsie/Ovid-Elsie High School) in 28:48, junior Chad Kaiser (Lachine/Alpena High School) in 28:54 and sophomore Dan Kimball (National City/Oscoda High School) in 29:12.
Leading the way for the Lady Comets was sophomore Rebecca Dawson (Williamsburg/Elk Rapids High School) with a time of 20:51. She was followed by sophomore Rachel Strelecki (Sterling/Standish-Sterling High School) in 22:27 and freshman Mehgan Sanson (Brown City High School) in 23:43.
