Cross country teams participate in MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College cross country teams participated in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree this morning at the Ridge Point Community Church in Holland. The Comet men placed eighth, while the women did not have enough runners to post a team score.
The Olivet College cross country teams participated in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree this morning at the Ridge Point Community Church in Holland. The Comet men placed eighth, while the women did not have enough runners to post a team score.
The Olivet men were led by Jordan Dornan. He finished the 8K race in a season-best time of 27:06. Junior Serafin Llerena (Bangor) was next at 30:27. Freshman Brock Hubbard (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) and sophomore Tom Sobleskey (Olivet) had identical times of 31:31. Sophomore Alex Johnson (Atlantic Mine/Houghton) and freshman Brandon Vaughn (Charlotte/Maple Valley) completed the race in 31:54 and 33:51, respectively.
Sophomore Brittany Marshall (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) paced the Olivet women, finishing the 5K race in 21:11. She was followed by freshman Autumn Williams (Albion/Marshall), 24:10; freshman Kayla Green (Mason), 24:32; and senior Christine Cameron (Elkhart, Ind./Concord), 25.56.
The Comets are now idle until Friday, Oct. 9, when they run at the Michigan Intercollegiates Meet, which is being hosted by Calvin College.
