ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Olivet College women's cross country team ran today at the 2010 Michigan Intercollegiates, hosted by Oakland University at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course in Rochester. The meet featured NCAA Division I, II and III schools as well as NAIA and community colleges in the state of Michigan.
As a team, Olivet was 16th of 17 schools, finishing ahead of Mott Community College. Freshman Anna Krausz (Lyons/Portland) completed the 5K race in 22:26.4, followed by freshman Liz Stewart (Vermontville/Maple Valley) in 23:53.2. Senior Katie Yahrmarkt (Sparta) was next in 24:00.1.
"We are continuing to make improvements in each competition," said Olivet Head Coach Karen Lutzke. "We were even more competitive today even without a few our athletes. It was a good learning experience with the large number of runners as well as quality of competition."
The Comets will participate in the 38th Annual Manchester (Ind.) College Cross Country Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 16. The 6K race will start at approximately 11 a.m.
