Cross country teams compete at Manchester Invitational
The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran today at the Manchester (Ind.) University Spartan Invitational. The Comet men placed fifth, while the women were sixth.
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Olivet College men's and women's cross country teams ran today at the Manchester (Ind.) University Spartan Invitational. The Comet men placed fifth, while the women were sixth.
The Olivet men were led by freshman Austin Thimlar-Coffman (Tekonsha/Union City). He completed the 8K race in 27:25.5 to finish 17th of 58 runners. Sophomore Andrew Benkovsky(Eaton Rapids) was next in 28:39.5. Senior Tom Sobleskey (Olivet) finished in 29:06.6, while freshman Tyler Britten (Mendon) and sophomore Jalen Weaver (Albion) ran the race in 29:20.8 and 29:37.9, respectively.
Sophomore Lane Duckworth (Bellevue) paced the Olivet women, as she finished the 6K run in 27:17.4. Senior Crystal Ramon (Marshall) was little less than 30 seconds behind in 27:45.3, followed by freshman Danielle Marsh (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) at 29:49.8 and sophomoreHaley Drummond (Williamston) at 29:21.8.
The Comets are now off until Saturday, Oct. 27, when they compete at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships at Albion College. The men's 8K race will start at 11 a.m., followed by the women's 6K race at noon.
