Seventy-five Olivet College student-athletes have been named to the 2011-12 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honor roll.
The Olivet College men’s swimming team has been named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team for the spring semester.
Olivet College’s Mike Harden has received the Albert H. Deal Scholar-Athlete Award from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). The award honors former MIAA commissioner, Albert Deal (1971-91), and is selected from nominees who have excelled in academics and athletics, and who have displayed outstanding leadership qualities.
Recent Olivet College graduate Mike Harden (St. Johns) has earned 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Harden is a first-team selection. A year ago, he was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® third-team.

Olivet College Athletic Director Heather Bateman has announced that Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach Jake Taber is leaving the college to accept the head coaching position at Albion College. Taber completed his fifth season as the Comets’ head coach in 2011-12.
The Olivet College men’s 400 freestyle relay team of Brian Fiorillo, Mike Harden, Ben Aldrich and Austin Munn finished in 15th-place to earn honorable mention All-American honors. They stopped the clock at a school-record time of 3:04.81.

The good news was they posted the ninth-fastest time during the preliminaries to qualify for the consolation finals. The bad news is during the finals, they were disqualified.

Based on this document, the NCAA will then select the field that will compete at the championships. The official field will be announced Tuesday, March 6.
