Olivet downed by Dubuque, 77-69, at Wheaton Lee Pfund Classic

WHEATON, Ill. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team fell to University of Dubuque (Iowa), 77-69, in the first game of the Wheaton (Ill.) College Lee Pfund Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first half, the Comets built an eight-point lead twice, 16-8 and 18-10. The Spartans chipped away at their deficit and eventually evened the score at 29-29. Over the final five minutes of the half, Dubuque scored 14 of the final 19 points to take 43-34 lead at the intermission.
- In the second half, Olivet cut its deficit down to six points, 65-59, after freshman Porter Kretschman made a free throw at the 9:16 mark. A 12-4 run gave the Spartans their largest lead of the game, 77-63, with 4:14 left in the game. The Comets scored the last six points of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Kretschman scored a team-leading 15 points.
- Sophomore Conner Schipper joined him in double figures with 11 points.
- Kretschman and Schipper each pulled down seven rebounds.
- Sophomore Nathan Richardson dished out six assists.
UP NEXT
- The Comets face the host Thunder in the consolation game of the tournament tomorrow night, tipping-off at 6 p.m. ET. Wheaton fell to Rockford (Ill.) University, 79-65, in the other first-round game.
