UOlivet suffers home loss to Calvin, 80-75

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet men's basketball team dropped an 80-75 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin University tonight at the Cutler Event Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Comets led by seven points twice. After the second time (14-7) with 11:17 left in the first half, the Knights scored eight straight points in a span of two minutes to take their first lead. Olivet grabbed the lead back, 18-16, after sophomore Conner Schipper made a three-pointer. Calvin, ranked No. 22 in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, ended the half with an 18-6 run to take a 34-24 lead at the break.
- The Knights stretched their advantage to as many as 22 points, 56-34, at the 13:13 mark of the second half. The Comets closed the gap to five points, 71-66, with 2:11 left. Olivet was not able to draw any closer for the rest of the game.
FOR THE COMETS
- Schipper posted game-highs in points (26) and rebounds (12) for his fifth double-double of the season. He also blocked three shots.
- Sophomore Porter Kretschman nearly had a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.
- Sophomore Lee Hardy contributed 11 rebounds and seven rebounds.
- Senior Nolan Finkbeiner came off the bench to score 10 points.
- Sophomore Nathan Richardson had eight points and three assists.

- The Comets play Saturday at defending NCAA Division III national champion Trine (Ind.) University. Tip-off from the MTI Center in Angola, Indiana, is 3 p.m.
