UOlivet places 28th and 36th at NCAA Cross Country Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Olivet men's and women's cross country teams placed 28th and 36th, respectively at the 2025 NCAA Division III Regional Meet, which was at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
THE BASICS
- Location: E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park; Louisville, Kentucky
- UO Men's Team: 28th of 37 (802 points)
- UO Women's Team: 36th of 37 (1,074 points)
- Top UO Men's Individual: Brenden Castillo, 130th of 272
- Top UO Women's Individual: Landry Gomez, 195th of 260
HOW IT HAPPENED - MEN
- Olivet totaled 814 points. The Comets finished ahead of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foes Albion College (32nd-946 points) and Alma College (33rd-960 points)
- Hope College captured the regional title with 53 points to earn an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
FOR THE COMET MEN
- Junior Brenden Castillo was Olivet's first finisher. He covered the 8K course in 27 minutes and 23.6 seconds.
- Junior Deegan Bodell ran the race in 27:41.6.

- Freshman Owen Lambarth – 28:45.0
- Senior Braeden Jones – 30:36.6

HOW IT HAPPENED - WOMEN
- The Comets recorded 1,074 points to finish ahead of MIAA rival Albion College who had 1,087 points.
- Trine (Ind.) University won the regional title with 50 points to gain the automatic bid.
FOR THE COMET WOMEN
- Freshman Landry Gomez posted Olivet's fastest time, 26:28.0, on the 6K course.
- Freshman Abby Dice was next at 26:41.2.
