The 47-30 halftime score was the largest lead of the opening 20 minutes for the Knights (8-6, 4-3 MIAA). The Comets (4-9, 3-3 MIAA) came back to make it a 13-point game two times early in the second half with the last time being, 51-38, at the 17:33 mark. From there, Calvin built its lead to as many as 32 points, including the final margin of victory.
Senior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) scored a team-leading 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Off the bench, junior Emily Brown (Muskegon/Mona Shores) had 12 points, four field goals and four free throws. Sophomore Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, including seven off the offensive glass.
The Knights were led by Marcia Harris, who scored 18 points. Kacy Cryderman added 14 points, while Brook VanEck and Amber Bethem had 13 and 10 points, respectively. Cryderman and VanEck each pulled down six rebounds.
The Comets return to the court Saturday when it travels to play Adrian College at 3 p.m.
