Women’s basketball team defeats Saint Mary’s, 80-70
Playing its first home game in more than six weeks, the Olivet College women’s basketball team defeated Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 80-70, tonight at the Upton Center in Olivet. The Comets have won four straight games and move into a tie for second-place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings with a 6-3 record.

In the win, sophomore Gabrielle Federau (Okemos) posted her first collegiate double-double, recording collegiate highs in points (11) and rebounds (14). Junior Lauren Fishwick (Trenton) tied her career-high with a team-leading 15 points. Freshman Ameina Ross (Lansing/Everett) came off the bench to score 12 points, while junior Sarah Mangold (Sterling Heights/Bishop Foley) scored a career-best 11 points. Senior Amy Brackenwagen (Grand Ledge) scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out eight assists.
Olivet will travel to play Alma College Saturday at 3 p.m.
