Women’s golf team earns MIAA’s automatic bid to the NCAA National Championships
By virtue of a first-place finish today in the third qualifying round, the Olivet College women’s golf team has earned the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s (MIAA) automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championships. The El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., will host the national championships May 8-11.

In today's final qualifying round at Tri-State's Zollner Golf Course, the Comets posted a 331 team score. Tri-State (Ind.) University was second at 338, followed by Hope College, 349; and Albion College, 352. The final three-round scores were Olivet (1,019), Tri-State (1,055), Albion (1,056) and Hope (1,066).
Leading the way for Olivet were sophomore Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) and freshman Megan Rimmel (Ithaca), as each returned to the clubhouse with a 79. Senior Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) was next with an 85, followed by sophomore Trisha McKim (DeWitt) and senior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) at 88 and 92, respectively.
Senior Amanda London (Marshall) played as an individual scorer, finishing with a 99.
