Women’s golf team increases MIAA lead with first-place finish at second jamboree
The Olivet College women’s golf team increased its lead in the 2006 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) seasonal standings by finishing in first-place today at the MIAA Jamboree #2. Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College hosted the jamboree at the Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend.

The Comets cared a 334 team score, which was 22 strokes ahead of Tri-State (Ind.) University and 30 strokes ahead of Saint Mary's. After two jamborees, Olivet leads Tri-State by 43 strokes.
Olivet had the top three finishers in today's player standings. Senior Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) earned medalist honors with a 78, followed by senior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union), 82; and sophomore Trisha McKim (DeWitt), 85. Sophomore Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) and junior Amanda Sanders (Concord) posted an 89 and 94, respectively.
Freshman Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) played as an individual and returned to the clubhouse with an 84. Senior Amanda London (Marshall) was also an individual scorer and finished with a 101.
The Comets continue MIAA play Tuesday, Oct. 3, when they participate in the third jamboree. Hope is hosting the outing at the Macatawa Legends Golf and Country Club.
