Wrestling team beats Chicago, 33-6

The Olivet College wrestling team won eight-of-10 matches en route to a 33-6 win over University of Chicago tonight at the Ratner Athletics Center in Chicago. The win is the first for first-year Olivet Head Coach Brandon Brissette.

After losing the 125-pound match, Olivet won seven straight matches. The Comets then lost a tough 2-1 sudden death victory at 197 pounds before capping the match with a pin at 285 pounds. Overall, the Comets had three pins and five minor decision victories.

Winning by pin were junior Vince Tucker (Clio) at 141 pounds, 2:26; freshman Josh Crawford (Birch Run) at 184 pounds, 2:32; and freshman Logan Renas (Big Rapids) at 285 pounds, 4:23. Junior Adam Wilson (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) posted an 8-2 win at 133 pounds.

Senior Nick Leon (Sterling Heights/Henry Ford II) at 149 pounds, junior Jim Neal (Marysville) at 165 pounds and sophomore Eddie Manier (Inkster/John Glenn) at 174 pounds each posted four-point victories at 7-3, 9-5 and 4-0, respectively. Senior Ben Hitchcock (Montrose) won 4-2 at 157 pounds.

The Comets will host the annual Comet Duals this Saturday, Nov. 21. Action inside The Cutler Event Center starts at 11 a.m.
