Prior to the start of the 2017 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) presented its annual academic awards. For the 18th time in school history, including the sixth straight year, the Olivet College wrestling team has finished in the top 15 of the National Academic Championship.

The Comets started the day with a 42-4 win over University of Wis.-Oshkosh in a preliminary match. Olivet then fell to Wabash (Ind.) College, 26-19, before bouncing back to beat North Central (Ill.) College, 27-9.
