Volleyball team bows out of MIAA Tournament with three-set loss at Hope
The Olivet College volleyball team bowed out of the 2009 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament with a three-set loss to No. 1 seed Hope College tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland. The Flying Dutch, ranked No. 5 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll, won by scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-16, and will host the MIAA Tournament semifinals and finals this weekend.

The Comets front row was led by freshmen Ashley Grimes (Concord) and Melanie Merchant (St. Joseph) with six kills apiece. Junior Jenessa Hicks (Union City) recorded 10 assists, while sophomore libero Mallory Schug (Climax/Galesburg-Augusta) had a team-high 16 digs. Senior Kim Travis (Shepherd) finished with 10 digs.
Olivet ends its season with a 6-21 overall record.
