Junior 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven) competed at the 2005 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships hosted by St. Olaf College in Northville, Minn. The two-day championships concluded today.
The wrestling team was third (out of 13 teams) today at the 2005 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Meet hosted by Manchester (Ind.) College. Leading the way for the Fighting Comets was junior Ryan Newberry (South Haven). He won the 184-pound championship and advances to the NCAA Division III National Championships.
The wrestling team defeated the Ohio Northern University (ONU) junior varsity squad, 27-16, tonight at MacKay Gymnasium in Olivet.
The wrestling team finished in second-place (out of seven teams) today at the Mid-States Conference Tournament hosted by Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology. The Fighting Comets tallied 129.5 team points.
The wrestling team placed all 10 starters en route to a second-place finish (out of seven teams) this afternoon at the 19th annual John Summa Memorial Tournament hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College.
The wrestling team had a 2-2 record today at the annual Wabash (Ind.) College Monon Bell Classic. With the split, Olivet’s overall record in dual meets is 9-3.
The Olivet College Board of Trustees has announced the reinstatement of the college’s intercollegiate wrestling program. In June 2004, the board voted to eliminate the program following the 2004-05 season.
The wrestling team defeated Tri-State (Ind.) University, 49-0, this evening at Hershey Hall in Angola, Indiana. Tri-State’s wrestling program is in its first season as a varsity sport.
The wrestling team finished in sixth-place (out of 16 schools) at the two-day North Central College Invitational in Naperville, Illinois. The Fighting Comets tallied 66.5 points.
The wrestling team competed today at the Muskingum (Ohio) College Invitational in New Concord, Ohio. The tournament was an unscored round-robin format with six schools competing.
The wrestling team finished in ninth-place (out of 16 schools) today at the Ohio Northern University Polar Bear Invitational.
The wrestling team captured the team title Saturday at the Milwaukee (Wisc.) School of Engineering Invitational. The Fighting Comets dominated the eight-team field with 100 points to finish 30.5 points ahead of the host Raiders.
The wrestling team defeated Lawrence (WIsc.) University and Milwaukee (Wisc.) School of Engineering (MSOE) this evening at MSOE’s Kern Center. The Fighting Comets beat the host Raiders, 18-15, and Lawrence, 28-13.
The wrestling team had a perfect 4-0 record today at the annual Comet Duals. The Fighting Comets defeated Lycoming (Pa.) College, 21-13; University of Wisc.-Platteville, 19-13; Bethel (Ind.) College, 22-19 and Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College, 24-16.
The Olivet College wrestling team began its 2004-05 season with a 16-15 loss to University of Chicago (Ill.) this afternoon at MacKay Gymnasium in Olivet.
